Monday, 9 May 2016

Over 2,000 people climbed the Hill of the Liberators in Plovdiv for the solemn celebration of 71st anniversary from the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event was held under the patronage of Georgi Gergov the Honorary Consul of Russia in Bulgaria and Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Regional Organization.

For the first time the city of the seven hills joined the world initiative ‘Immortal Regiment’, which began in 2012 in the Russian town of Pern.

Nearly 500 people from Plovdiv came today with pictures of their relatives - participants in the war against Hitler’s Fascism. The procession started from the National High School of Commerce and ended in the Alyosha Monument. There the heirs of the heroes of the Second World War made a memorial wall of photos.
